Microblading Aftercare

Posted May 28, 2021 by Ayonga

Microblading is a semi-permanent procedure where a technician uses a special tool almost similar to a tattooing pen to draw hair strokes that enhance your natural eyebrows giving them a denser look of your choice. Since the procedure shares a couple of similarities with tattooing, the after care is quite similar.

After a typical microblading procedure, the eyebrows look darker than usual while the skin underneath will have a reddish look depending on your skin type.  After a procedure the technician will run a wet sterile cotton swab to soak out any excess dye and sterilize the microbladed area.

At this point, the technicians work is done and your work begins. It will take 7-14 days for your new eyebrows to look 100% natural meaning aftercare is particularly important. Follow the steps below to take care of your skin after a microblading procedure:

  1. Avoid getting the area wet for up to 10 days, this includes keeping the area dry during a shower. This might sound hard but all you need to do is wash your face before jumping into the shower then keeping your head away from the water.
  2. Do not wear makeup for at least a week. Since the dye is still settling in the tiny cuts, don’t add any foreign colors
  3. Don’t itch the eyebrow area or remove any scabs. This may lead to unwanted injuries and bleeding.
  4. Avoid swimming, the saunas and excessive exercise that may cause sweating until the you have a follow-up appointment.
  5. Keep your hair away from your eyebrows. Hair has a way of carrying germs and spreading them all over the face, keeping hair away from the microbladed area means you also keep germs away.
  6. Apply any cream or balm provided by the technician to speed up healing. Do not self-diagnose, just give your technician a call and ask them to recommend a healing cream or balm.

After your skin is healed, we recommend you take care of your new and improved eyebrows by simply applying sunscreen on your brows. It is also very necessary to visit your technician every year to get a quick touch up and advice.
